Budget & cash flow
Set a monthly operating budget and cash plan, then compare actuals (P&L and money moved) with variance = actual − planned.

What this section is
Budget & cash flow has two lenses for a calendar month. Operating budget: planned folio revenue categories and expense categories vs P&L actuals. Cash flow: planned guest collections and payments vs money that actually moved (folio payments, expenses paid, vendor bill payments). Variance = actual − planned. Copy previous month to speed planning. This is operational planning — not the Accounting cash-flow statement from vouchers.
In the owner dashboard
Open Budget & cash flow under Listing / Property after you claim a stay. Same vocabulary as Help Academy.

Help cues
When to use it
Cue 1
Start of month — set Sep room ₹3L · payroll ₹80k · collections ₹2.8L.
Cue 2
Mid-month — are we behind on collections?
Cue 3
Month-end variance review with the owner.
Do this
Step-by-step
-
Open Budget & cash flow
Finance → Budget & cash flow. Pick the month. Optionally copy previous month’s plan.
India example: October · copy September plan as starting point. -
Enter operating + cash plans
Fill planned revenue/expense lines and planned collections/payments. Save.
India example: Room ₹3L · payroll ₹80k · collections ₹2.8L. -
Compare actuals and variance
As folios and expenses post, actuals fill. Green/red variance guides action (push collections, cut spend, or revise plan). Jump to P&L / Expenses for detail.
India example: Collections actual ₹2.5L · −₹30k → chase AR.
Tips
Budget (accrual-ish ops) and cash plan can diverge on purpose — credit stays sell now, collect later. · Keep plans realistic; fantasy budgets teach staff to ignore the screen.
Common mistakes
Changing the plan every day to erase variance instead of fixing operations.

Example 1: October plan — then mid-month collections gap
Setting
1 Oct planning · by 15 Oct collections lag ₹30k.

Plan first. Variance later is a signal to chase AR — not to silently rewrite the budget.
| # | What staff do | What they should see |
