What this section is

Recipes link menu dishes to ingredients and yields. They support training, consistent taste, and later food costing. Without recipes, every shift invents portions and food cost drifts.

In the owner dashboard

Open Recipe management under Listing / Property after you claim a stay. Same vocabulary as Help Academy.

~9 min

Typical time to read this guide and complete the screen once for a small property.

Food & beverage · Kitchen & bar

KOT/BOT tickets, kitchen display (KDS), recipes, kitchen stock issues, and wastage logs.

Help cues

When to use it

Cue 1

Standardising Butter chicken before a new cook joins.

Cue 2

Owner asks why food cost spiked.

Cue 3

Linking a menu item to a bill of materials.

Do this

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Open Recipes

Food & beverage → Kitchen & bar → Recipes. Create or open a dish recipe.

India example: Butter chicken · 1 kg yield.
  2. 2

    Add ingredients and portions

List raw materials with quantities (chicken 600g, butter, tomato, cream…). Note prep steps briefly if the screen allows.

India example: Chicken 600g + gravy components · portion 250g plated.
  3. 3

    Train and enforce

Show cooks the recipe card. Spot-check plate weight during service. Update recipe when the menu recipe changes.

India example: New cook shadows one service with recipe open.

Tips

Match recipe names to Menu item names so costing can join later. · Yield matters — write finished kg/litres, not only raw weight.

Common mistakes

Keeping recipes only in the chef’s head — holiday leave breaks consistency.

Staff training

Detailed examples

Full India-hotel scenarios — same structure as Help Academy. Follow on the live screen with your team.

Example 1: Write Butter chicken recipe for a new cook

Setting

New line cook starts tomorrow · dish must taste the same.

Who is involved

Chef

Recipes beat “watch me once”. Portions protect food cost.

# What staff do What they should see
1 Recipes → Butter chicken · 1 kg yield Header saved.
2 Add chicken 600g + gravy ingredients BOM clear.
3 Train cook with recipe open on first service Plate weight consistent.
End result: Standard dish; costing later has a base.
