What this section is

Orders is the ticket workbench for dine-in, counter, bar, guest QR, and room-service checks. Compared with POS, it exposes the full lifecycle: KOT print/send, line status (pending → kot → ready → served), void with audit reason, folio link/post (including partial), then close or cancel. Use it when a table needs mid-meal changes or room posting.

In the owner dashboard

Open Restaurant orders under Listing / Property after you claim a stay. Same vocabulary as Help Academy.

~14 min

Typical time to read this guide and complete the screen once for a small property.

Food & beverage · Service

Run the floor: POS, billing, table reservations, orders, room service, and posting room charges to folios.

Help cues

When to use it

Cue 1

T3 running ticket needs a second KOT for dessert.

Cue 2

Guest QR sent 2× dosa — review pending lines, then Send KOT.

Cue 3

Wrong item before kitchen starts — Void that line with a reason.

Cue 4

Post dinner (or only drinks) to Room 204 folio.

Cue 5

Cancel a duplicate whole ticket that never went to kitchen.

Do this

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Open Orders

Food & beverage → Service → Orders. Open an existing ticket or create for a table (or open from POS / Guest QR). Check covers, guest label, and status pills (Open, Guest QR, Partial folio).

India example: Order #12 on T3 · 2 covers · Guest QR · status Open.
  2. 2

    Send KOT and track

After items are added (or guest QR pending lines reviewed), Send KOT & print. Mark ready/served as food leaves the pass. Use Reprint only if the paper chit is missing.

India example: 2× dosa pending → Send KOT → kitchen → mark ready → served.
  3. 3

Void a wrong line (with reason)

If the guest changes mind or a wrong item was added and it is not yet on the folio, enter a Void reason and void that line. Do not delete quietly — the reason is required for audit and night checks.

India example: Void 1× filter coffee · reason “guest changed mind” · ticket total drops.
  4. 4

    Post folio or close

Link an in-house guest if needed, then Post to folio (all unposted lines, or tick a subset for partial). Close the order when done. Cancel order only for a whole wrong ticket — still needs a void reason.

India example: Post drinks ₹180 to Room 204 now · leave mains unposted · later post rest · Close order.

Tips

Course fire: send starters KOT first, mains when ready — do not dump everything if the kitchen uses staggered fire. · Void early (pending) when possible; once On folio, fix via folio credit/adjustment, not a second silent delete. · Open orders / unposted F&B at night audit = investigate before closing the business date. · Partial post is normal for “charge room for drinks, guest pays cash for dessert” — finish unposted before checkout.

Common mistakes

Posting the same lines to folio twice — guest disputes at checkout. · Removing a wrong item without Void reason — no audit trail when the GM asks. · Trying to Cancel order after folio post — blocked; reverse the folio charge first.

Detailed examples

Full India-hotel scenarios — same structure as Help Academy. Follow on the live screen with your team.

Example 1: Second KOT for dessert then post to room

Setting

In-house Room 204 on T3 · mains done · dessert + folio post.

Who is involved

Cashier · Runner

Orders handles mid-meal changes and folio posting without losing the ticket.

# What staff do What they should see
1 Orders → T3 → add dessert · Send KOT Kitchen gets second ticket.
2 Mark served when plated Status current.
3 Post to Room 204 folio · close order FO balance updated.
End result: Dessert sold and charged once; table cleared.

Example 2: Void a wrong line, then cancel a duplicate ticket

Setting

Cashier added 1× beer by mistake on T5 · second empty ticket opened by accident.

Who is involved

Cashier · Supervisor

Void = one line with a reason. Cancel order = whole ticket with a reason. Neither works if the line/ticket is already posted to folio.

# What staff do What they should see
1 Open order → Void beer · reason “wrong item” Line cancelled; ticket total drops; audit has reason.
2 Open empty duplicate → Cancel order · reason “duplicate ticket” Ticket cancelled; table not stuck Open.
3 Confirm no unposted ghost tickets before night audit Orders list clean.
End result: Mistake corrected with an audit trail; no silent deletes.
