What this section is

OTA connections records each Online Travel Agency you sell on for this property. Sync method is usually Manual distribution (you update the extranet yourself) or External channel manager. Verification is a staff attestation that the connection details are correct — not an API login test. Listing URLs under Listing → OTA are for staff reference; live selling discipline lives here under Distribution.

In the owner dashboard

Open OTA integration under Listing / Property after you claim a stay. Same vocabulary as Help Academy.

~10 min

Typical time to read this guide and complete the screen once for a small property.

Distribution · Channel Manager

Manual OTA distribution: dashboard, connections, external CM, publishing workspace, and rate/availability attestations.

Help cues

When to use it

Cue 1

Go-live: add Booking.com and MMT before first OTA booking import.

Cue 2

Commission % changes after a new OTA contract.

Cue 3

Archive an old Airbnb listing you no longer use.

Do this

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Open OTA connections

Distribution → OTA. Add channel: platform, name, listing URL, default commission %, sync method, status.

    India example: Booking.com · URL extranet link · 15% · Manual distribution · Active.
  2. 2

    Map mentally to PMS products

Room type names and rate plans in PMS should match what you sell on the OTA. Distribution does not auto-map room codes — keep a written map (Deluxe Double ↔ B.com Deluxe).

India example: PMS Deluxe EP ↔ B.com “Deluxe Double Room” · breakfast sold as add-on.
  3. 3

    Verify and maintain

Use Verify to log that staff checked the extranet link and commission. Archive channels you stopped selling so the dashboard stays clean.

India example: Verify MMT after URL change · Archive old Expedia test row.

Tips

Commission method (percent vs fixed) should match how the OTA invoices you — Finance uses this later for remittances. · Travel agents (trade partners) are under Reservations → Travel agents — not OTA connections.

Common mistakes

Leaving sync method blank or “API” when no live adapter exists — use Manual or External CM honestly.

Staff training

Detailed examples

Full India-hotel scenarios — same structure as Help Academy. Follow on the live screen with your team.

Example 1: Add MMT before first MakeMyTrip booking

Setting

New listing · Booking.com already added · MMT contract signed this week.

Who is involved

Owner · Revenue staff

Without an OTA connection row, inbox import and commission later have no channel to attach to. Manual sync method is correct until a live adapter exists.

# What staff do What they should see
1 Distribution → OTA → Add channel Platform MakeMyTrip · Manual distribution.
2 Paste listing/extranet URL · commission 18% Channel Active.
3 Verify Staff attestation logged — not an API test.
End result: MMT ready for publishing and booking import.
