OTA commission management

Use the Commissions hub and register to record per-stay OTA commission (gross, %, net) and settle or void entries — manually from statements, not live APIs.

What this section is

OTA commissions tracks what Booking.com / MMT (MakeMyTrip) / other channels charge on each stay. The Commissions hub links the register (per-reservation lines), OTA remittance reconciliation (bank batches), and channel default % on OTA connections. Entries are staff-recorded from OTA statements or folio review — FindMyStay does not pull commission APIs. Default % on the channel is a guide; always confirm against the statement (bases differ by OTA).

In the owner dashboard

Open OTA commission management under Listing / Property after you claim a stay. Same vocabulary as Help Academy.

~10 min

Typical time to read this guide and complete the screen once for a small property.

Distribution · Commissions & payouts

Track OTA commission per stay and reconcile bank remittance batches against statements.

Help cues

When to use it

Cue 1

After an OTA checkout — record commission for that stay.

Cue 2

Weekly: compare register totals to the OTA invoice.

Cue 3

Owner asks how much commission was paid last month.

Do this

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Open Commissions hub

Distribution → Commissions. Review recent entries and shortcuts to All commissions, New entry, Reconciliation, and OTA connections.

    India example: Sample check: ₹10,000 @ 15% → commission ₹1,500 · net ₹8,500 (confirm vs statement).
  2. 2

    Create a commission entry

New entry → pick reservation/channel, charge date, gross, commission rate or amount, net. Status stays recorded until you settle against a remittance.

    India example: B.com stay · gross ₹8,200 · 15% → ₹1,230 · net ₹6,970 · recorded.
  3. 3

    Settle or void

When the OTA payout covers the line, Settle. Void mistakes or cancelled stays that never remitted. Keep channel default % updated under OTA connections for new rows.

India example: Week-2 MMT remittance matched → settle three lines · void one cancelled stay.

Tips

Travel-agent commission (trade partners) is separate — that lives under Reservations → Travel agents, not this OTA hub. · GST (Goods and Services Tax) on hotel invoices is not the same as OTA commission — do not mix the two in one “tax” bucket.

Common mistakes

Trusting default channel % without checking the statement — promo/virtual-card stays often differ.

Staff training

Detailed examples

Full India-hotel scenarios — same structure as Help Academy. Follow on the live screen with your team.

Example 1: Record Booking.com commission after checkout

Setting

Guest checked out · B.com statement line gross ₹8,200 · 15% commission.

Who is involved

Accountant Meera · Front office

Commission register is the stay-level truth; remittance is the bank batch. Record first, settle when money lands.

# What staff do What they should see
1 Distribution → Commissions → New entry Form for channel + amounts.
2 Enter gross ₹8,200 · 15% · net ₹6,970 · link reservation Status recorded in recent list.
3 When remittance arrives → Settle Line closed; hub stays tidy.
End result: Owner can see commission cost per stay.
