What this section is
Petty cash is the small-cash imprest for Front, F&B, HK, etc.: top-up the float, record expenses, give advances, and settle with bills. Not the front-desk Cashier shift drawer for guest collections (that is Finance → Cashier shift). Cost centres tag where the spend belongs.

Accounting → Petty cash. Review float and recent lines.
India example: Float ₹5,000 · HK cost centre. -
Record expense or advance
Enter type, amount, cost centre, notes/receipt. Advances must be settled later.
India example: Advance ₹2,000 driver · then settle ₹1,800 fuel + ₹200 return. -
Reconcile float
Cash on hand + receipts = float. Top-up when low via proper bank/cash voucher.
India example: Short ₹50 → investigate before top-up.
Tips
Keep petty cash separate from guest cash register — mixing destroys both controls. · Large vendor pays belong on PV/AP, not petty cash.
