What this section is

Journal vouchers (JV) are manual double-entry documents: at least two lines, total debits = total credits. Use for accruals, adjustments, and non-cash corrections. Draft → Post to hit General ledger and Trial balance. Void with audit if wrong. Payment/Receipt/Contra vouchers use the same engine with different intent.

Open Journal vouchers

Accounting → Journal vouchers. Create JV with date, narration, cost centre if used.

India example: JV · 31 Mar · year-end notes.
Enter balanced lines

Dr and Cr accounts + amounts. Save draft when unsure; Post when reviewed.

India example: Dr Payroll 5100 ₹80k · Cr Bank 1010 ₹80k (if paid) or Cr liability.
Verify on GL / TB

Posted JV appears on General ledger; Trial balance still balances.

India example: TB debit = credit after post.

Tips

Narration should mention invoice/PO/folio refs for audit. · Do not use JV to “hide” a missing guest folio payment — fix ops first.
