What this section is
Item master is the catalogue of everything you stock: toiletries, linen, cleaning chemicals, kitchen staples, engineering spares. Each row needs a stable SKU (Stock Keeping Unit), unit of measure, and reorder point. Bad masters make every GRN and PO painful.

Open Item master
Inventory → Catalog & stores → Item master. Search before creating — avoid duplicates.
India example: Search shampoo → edit SHAM-30 instead of creating SHAMPOO-NEW. -
Create / edit an item
SKU, name, category (toiletries/linen/F&B dry/engineering), unit (each/kg/ltr), reorder level, cost/tax fields as used by your property.
India example: SKU SHAM-30 · toiletries · unit each · reorder 20. -
Keep it tidy
Deactivate obsolete SKUs; do not delete history. Align names with what HK and kitchen actually say.
India example: Old 20ml bottle SKU inactive · 30ml active.
Tips
SKU codes short and unique (SHAM-30, TOWEL-BT) beat long sentences. · Same unit everywhere — never mix “packet” and “each” for the same product without converting.
Common mistakes
Creating a new item every time the brand changes — prefer one SKU and note brand in description.
