What this section is

Rate plans are your priced products. In Indian hotels the meal plan code is part of the product name. Build plans after Room types exist; then use Seasonal pricing and Pricing calendar for peaks — start with clean base plans.

In the owner dashboard

Open Rate plans under Listing / Property after you claim a stay. Same vocabulary as Help Academy.

~12 min

Typical time to read this guide and complete the screen once for a small property.

Rates & offers

Price what you sell: rate plans, calendars, seasons, offers, coupons, and GST / taxes & fees.

Help cues

When to use it

Cue 1

Property go-live — no rates yet.

Cue 2

Adding breakfast-inclusive CP (Continental Plan) next to EP (European Plan).

Cue 3

Corporate or tour contract needs MAP (Modified American Plan) or a fixed BAR plan.

Do this

Step-by-step

  1. 1

Know the meal-plan codes (EP / CP / MAP)

Use the same abbreviations on plans, vouchers, and F&B handovers so desk and restaurant agree what is included:
    • EP — European Plan: room only; no meals included. Guest pays restaurant separately.
    • CP — Continental Plan: room + breakfast (usually complimentary breakfast for the booked occupancy).
    • MAP — Modified American Plan: room + breakfast + one major meal (lunch or dinner — fix which one in the plan notes).
Also common: AP — American Plan (room + breakfast + lunch + dinner / all meals). Name plans like “Deluxe CP”, not only “Deluxe”.

India example: Seaside Heritage sells Deluxe EP (room only), Deluxe CP (room + breakfast), and Suite MAP (room + breakfast + dinner). First meal on MAP arrival = dinner unless noted otherwise.
  2. 2

Open Rate plans and create products

Rooms & rates → Rates & offers → Rate plans. Create a plan linked to the right room type(s). Put the meal code in the plan name and spell inclusions in the description so new staff do not guess.

India example: Deluxe CP · Continental Plan · includes breakfast for 2 · cancellation: free till 24h before arrival.
  3. 3

    Set base amounts

Enter weekday and weekend (or single) rack rates exclusive or inclusive of GST (Goods and Services Tax) per your property policy — be consistent and document it. Staff must know whether the number on screen is before GST. MAP/CP should price higher than EP for the same room type by roughly the meal cost you intend.

India example: Deluxe EP weekday ₹2,800 · Deluxe CP ₹3,500 · Fri–Sat CP ₹4,200 (ex-GST) · taxes from Taxes & fees on the folio.
  4. 4

Use on bookings and brief F&B

On New booking / Walk-in, pick the plan so reports and Distribution know which product sold. For MAP/AP, note first meal (often dinner on arrival) for the restaurant.

India example: Phone booking → Deluxe CP · advance ₹1,000 · source Phone · kitchen sees breakfast covers for 2.

Tips

Keep plan names short and channel-friendly (“Deluxe CP”, not “Morning tea special v2”). · Write meal inclusions in plain language on the confirmation PDF (Documents) — guests may not know EP/CP/MAP. · Non-refundable prepaid plans should say so in the plan name or notes for desk clarity.

Common mistakes

Selling “CP” but restaurant was never told — guest charged twice for breakfast. · Typing a one-off price only in guest notes and leaving the plan blank — breaks revenue reports and OTA rate checks.

Without rate plans, every booking is a custom number. Staff must know: EP (European Plan) = room only; CP (Continental Plan) = room + breakfast; MAP (Modified American Plan) = room + breakfast + one major meal.

# What staff do What they should see
1 Rate plans → create Deluxe EP (room only) and Deluxe CP (room + breakfast) Weekday/weekend racks saved; CP priced above EP.
2 Optional: Suite MAP (room + breakfast + dinner) with note “first meal: dinner on arrival” F&B knows covers.
3 New booking test: Deluxe CP Fri–Sun Plan and totals pull correctly + GST from Taxes & fees.
4 Brief desk: never type rates only in notes; say full form to guests (“room with breakfast”) SOP posted at reception.
End result: Phone and walk-in prices match a real plan; guests and kitchen understand inclusions.
